Decorating Your Baby Nursery
After choosing a nursery theme, the next complicating task is
decorating the nursery. Aside from the theme, there are important
considerations to take into when decorating the baby nursery. The most
important is the safety of the baby. One must also take into account to
stick to an important rule on decorating the nursery - needs not wants.

To make sure that you only bought what is needed for decorating the
nursery, make a lists of all the things needed for the nursery. Take

- Mattresses and Beddings
For decorating the baby nursery, choose the mattresses and beddings
that are made of cotton. This type of fabric is comfortable and good

not too soft. Big pillows might suffocate the baby. There were many
cases of baby’s death due to suffocation.
- Wall Papers/ Paint
On decorating the nursery, make sure that your wallpapers and paints
are of good quality and doesn’t wear off easily. It could a pose a
danger to your baby. For example, if a piece of wallpaper tear-off,
and your baby accidentally grabbed it, it might choke the baby or
get him/her sick if eaten.
Also, in decorating the nursery, choose colors that will help
stimulate their minds and eyesight. There are studies that showed
that primary colors help stimulates a baby’s mind and contribute to
increase IQ.
- Curtains
Make sure the curtains are securely placed and won’t fall off if the
baby grabbed or pulled it. Babies are usually fond of grabbing and
pulling things within their reach
- Toys
Toys for decorating the nursery should be always safe to play with.
Choose materials that are non-toxic. It is also important to choose
the right toy for your baby’s age. Like for children below 3 years
old, you must let them play with toys that are in small pieces. This
is because babies, has a tendency to eat everything they grabbed or
hold on to.
- Carpets
Having a carpet for decorating the baby nursery is also an
advantage. You just have to make sure of its safety for your baby.
Carpets also acts a safety cushion for babies if they accidentally
fell off from the crib. When your baby starts to crawl and learns to
walk, it is a must that your carpets or flooring of the nursery room
is very safe. Babies usually fall when they are learning to walk, so
you have to make sure Avoid slippery type of floorings. Don’t use
carpets with fibers are prone to dust. This may cause Asthma or
allergies for your baby. If you choose not to have a carpet, you can
opt for wood flooring. Wood floorings also help babies to learn to
walk easily, because they can easily balance when stepping on wood
flooring.
