Nursery Furniture – Nursery Essentials

Setting up your baby nursery is an exciting task that you have to accomplish before giving birth. While there are people who actually hire designers and decorators to set up their nurseries for them, doing the task yourself can prove to be an enjoyable and exciting. Truth be told, planning how your nursery would look like in the end is fun and easy. Creating the baby room can be a fun task not just for you, the mother, but for the entire family. All family members can contribute to creating the baby nursery; just be sure that you decide on one theme that is suitable for your new born bundle of joy.

Of course, part of every nursery are the furniture pieces. These pieces of furniture will complete decorating the nursery. Here are some of the important nursery furniture pieces that are considered as essentials. Of course, you can always put more depending on the available space you have or you can choose to remove some pieces depending on your specific needs.

Nursery Essential 1 – Baby Crib

One of the nursery essentials is the baby crib. The crib will serve as your baby's main sleeping area. The crib should, of course, be safe and comfortable enough for your baby. Some cribs double as a bassinet or a cradle. You can consider buying one of these multi-function cribs so that you can have more use for one piece of furniture.

Nursery Essential 2 – Dresser/Changing Dresser

Another nursery furniture that is important is the changing table dresser. These dressers usually have space for clothes and other items like diapers and baby accessories and also a changing area. Be sure to choose a changing dresser that is sturdy and safe.

Nursery Essential 3 – Nursing Chair

This piece of nursery furniture is not really for the baby but for you, the mother. The nursing chair is where you will sit when you are breastfeeding or nursing your baby. This can also be used even if you bottle feed your baby. The key is to have a very comfortable chair where you can nurse and relax at the same time. Take note that you can nurse many times a day for more an hour each time so comfort should be the number one feature that you should look for.

Nursery Essential 4 – Playpen

Some cribs double as playpens. A playpen is used not by infants but when your baby is already a few months old. When your baby is old enough to sit or stand up, a playpen can be a safe playing place. While a playpen is considered an optional nursery furniture, having one can be extremely useful.

These are just some examples of nursery essentials that you can buy for your nursery. Of course, it is entirely up to you which furniture pieces you would need and buy. Be sure to look for quality furniture pieces as they can mean safety and comfort for your baby. Buying high quality furniture is also more practical as you can reuse them for your next baby.
